I bought this blanket for my father because of the recent cold weather and he absolutely loves it. He uses it every time he sleeps or naps. The control dial on it was a little odd and troublesome to figure out at first, but once we did, it was well worth it.

2. Very handy energy saving blanket
I was considering a heated throw to keep the thermostat lower but this was a better choice. The controls are logical and it shuts off automatically after 10 hours.

This is a heated mattress pad and works very nicely.

I am revisiting this review to add another con:
I have now used this item for a second cold season and am sad to say that it barely works anymore. I have it on the warmest setting and it barely takes the chill off of my bottom sheet. I do not understand why so many warming mattress pads and blankets only work for one season.

Pros:
Heats up quickly
Has a nice range of heating levels
Control nicely angled for easy viewing
Auto turn off after 10 hours
Will fit and stay on a thicker than normal mattress ~ deep pockets

Cons:
Wires in pad are thick, unlike others I've had. I put a feather mattress pad over it and can still feel wires
Although it has auto off, the light in the control doesn't turn off at the same time like most
Shifts on my thinner, smaller than normal mattress

Since I got this pad for an excellent price, I am more pleased than not...

2. Disappointed
I purchased this item to maintain an even, warm temperature for newly dyed fabric until the dye "set," a process taking 4 to 8 hours. The booklet with the instructions was for a digital version of the product, not the one I ordered and received. I could not get any heat out of it at all. I returned the product and received a note later on that the product worked "perfectly," which was not my experience. The product was supposedly new but was obviously re-wrapped.

Shipping: Awesome! Got it two days after order (with standard shipping).

Product Quality: Nice. The color matched the display. The blanket is soft and comfortable. There are some problems. The blanket doesn't heat evenly, but it isn't too noticeable. Also, you will be covered in fuzz! Owning this blanket is like owning a shedding pet. I have black pillow cases and sheets, and they are covered in fuzz. If you own lighter colored bedding and clothes, this won't matter as much.

2. Got what I'd paid for
I probably wouldn't suggest this blanket. It does the job but takes a really long time to warm up and is very thin. (Not very cozy)The blanket pills and sheds all over...probably as much if not more then the dog! I suppose I got what I'd paid for.

On my 3rd one
Purchased first one at Walmart and after a few washings (They are supposed to be machine washable) it stopped working. I took it back for another and sure enough didn't even make it through winter (I had not saved the receipt from the 1st purchase so that's why I am getting stuck with exchanges. I exchanged for my 3rd (hopefully last one) tonight.
I realize now I will not be able to "wash" this one in a washing machine.
I attempted to register it online but the model I purchased (only model the Walmart had) isn't even listed on Sunbeams website.

1. had to replace first one and even the second one did not work right. Was refunded cost of blanket.
I've used a Biddiford blanket for 10 years and was very disappointed with the one sent to me. The first one went out during the night and I had major cramping in my legs. I had to turn it up to 8-9 just to get good heat from it and had to turn it off and then on again during the night to get the heat back on. The one I had before, I had kept on 1-3 all the time until it broke. The second one they sent me had to be kept on 8-9 to get proper heating. Numbers 1-7 gets no heat at all. This was true of the first one also. I'm very disappointed as I was very satisfied with the one I had owned before.

I bought this item in queen size last month and it has been worth every penny.

I decided to get it so I could turn my heat down and the cat would stay warm while I was away. Sounds like a crazy cat lady thing to do, but someone else suggested it to save on heating costs instead of heating the whole house. I never considered any kind of heated bedding before this.

I'm usually a warm person and can't stand being too hot at night, but after a month with this mattress pad I've found myself keeping it on high heat at all times and loving every minute of it. The heat comes from underneath instead of suffocating you from above. The way it works is the heat is trapped by your body or bedding on top of it. Otherwise it's average room temperature if not covered by something. It's a gentle heat that doesn't sweat you out from under the blankets, but it's warm enough to chase away the chills on a cold winter night. The heat has also been wonderful for easing aching muscles...

2. Great replacement
Great product, replacing a 4 year old pad. This one is heavier and should hold up even better than the last one.

1. I give up!
I have had electric blankets since I was a little kid (going on 40 years of Electric blanket use). They use to last 5-10 years. I remember having ones that I'd have year after year! In the last 10 years or so the time they last has gotten less and less. I've always bought Sunbeam blankets, and now, I am in search of a new brand! In the last 5 years I have bought a new blanket EVERY year! It wasn't so bad when I could find them on the clearance rack for $12. But, this last 2 years, that hasn't been the case. The cheapest one I can find is around $44. A blanket needs to last longer than ONE year for that amount of money! Not to mention the landfill waste all these blankets are adding to the environment!!!
This blanket didn't even make it a day! It wouldn't work at all. I tried everything I could think of. The only thing that seemed to work was covering the whole bed with a down blanket to "assist" the Sunbeam blanket in heating up! Only without the assistance, it simply...

2. Everything is great but the material
This is my first electric blanket that I have ever purchased. The unit heats up pretty fast. The feet and head areas seem to stay the warmest which I find very beneficial, others may not like this. The unit seems to cycle between on and off but this I assume is standard for electric heating elements. The only aspect of this unit that I do not like was that the material seems to fall apart. I sat on this blanket with a hoodie on and it looked like I had large bunches of lint all over me. For this reason I would suggest going with a more expensive blanket that has either microsuede or something along those lines. I have placed this under a blanket so that I do not get clumps of lint on me. Once I put sheets over the blanket I found this to be a very nice blanket.

Inferior quality, barely worth the money

This blanket started to pill immediately. Within two nights, it looked ragged, as though it had been used for years, and I am forever picking up the resulting lint. As well, while the warming coils do a half-decent job, they are bulky and the heat does not seem to distribute evenly. I contacted the manufacturer, and though my message was acknowledged as received, I never got a response. I guess you get what you pay for, as the price was relatively low.

On the flip side, it does enable me to to lower my thermostat at night, decreasing my heating bills. One other positive is that the control is easy to use, silent, and offers 10 heat settings that are easy to change.

1. Good heat at lowest setting, but very thin material
We've used this blanket less than a week, and I'm mostly happy with it. It gives off a lot of heat, even at the lowest setting. The controls are easy to use and read, and the auto-off feature works as advertised. My only issue is that the material is so thin that you can really feel the wires. (We have the blanket between the sheet and duvet.) They don't create hot spots; it's just an odd feeling. For the price, though, it was a great purchase.

2. Keeps me warm in the winter
This queen sized electric blanket has two controls for the two sides of the bed with Solid State relays and 10 temperature settings. Each control has a 10 hour timer that will auto shut off if you leave it on.

The blanket is not thick so you will likely want to put something on top of it. You can feel the resistance wire through the blanket, although I don't find this to be much of a problem. I generally use one of the lowest settings on the blanket, so I have lots of power to spare if things got really cold. The controls work fine, although I find the LED to be a bit bright, and the controls should be weighted; The weight of the wires running off each control is often too much and it pulls the control right off my nightstand.

I thought it was going to be a nicer product.. Although it works fine, the material looks and feels very synthetic. I was kind of disappointed because it looks like the worst quality material ever... But in the other hand, it was brand new and works perfectly. I guess it is hard to tell the quality by just looking to the pictures.

2. Huge disappointment!
I live in a freezing cold apartment, so I decided to try an electric blanket. Let me tell you, this one is lame!! It didn't heat evenly and sometimes it didn't really heat at all. On the highest setting it was luke warm at best. I gave it a few tries, but it just never worked properly. One time it got so hot that I had to stick my feet out, but the upper half was cool to the touch. Also, the material is absolutely gross. It feels really cheap like a bad motel blanket. It sheds everywhere, so after being under the blanket I had to use a lint roller to clean my clothing off. The material is so thin, leaving the wires visible. Very disappointing product.

This is a crappy product of the first magnitude. The plug has to be constantly reset almost every time you move the blanket a bit, which means you have to get out of bed to unplug it and plug it back in again.

Not a good choice
I bought this blanket about a year ago, for use on very cold nights. I have used it about half a dozen times, and regret buying it.

Pros: Relatively lightweight and inexpensive. Gives off quite a bit of warmth. Fabric feels soft. Illuminated dial.

Cons: Heat level is very erratic, and very difficult to control. It sometimes becomes much too warm during the night, despite preheating it for several hours. A few times, it shut itself off during the night, for no apparent reason. The dial turns much too easily. The plug end of the blanket is uncomfortably heavy, due to the weight of the cord socket. It is difficult to disconnect the cord from the blanket.

Summary: There must be better choices. Avoid this blanket.

I stumbled on this blanket while looking for a heated mattress pad for my really cold room in Afghanistan - and I'm glad I did! The blanket is incredibly soft and I love the pile. It heats up quickly and has several heat choices, plus an easy to use digital controler. The only negative is that it doesn't seem to heat up as much near the feet (where you plug the cord), but that is minor. I love having it on bed.

this is an excellent product, especially after having another brand that quit on us all the time! only complaint regarding our Biddeford is that very difficult to "read" if any light on; and the "E" popped up a couple times that was easily overridden (a false reading we assume).

2. A great electric blanket
I have owned the twin size for almost a year now, and it is the best electric blanket I have had in a long time. I sleep with it turned on for about 50 weeks out of the year, so it has gotten a lot of use. I have a dust mite allergy and have to wash my blankets every two weeks. I wash this blanket once a month so I don't wear it out and it has held up twice as long as electric blankets I've had in the past. Also, this is the "old fashioned" type of electric blanket, not one of the room temperature sensing ones (not hot enough for me). It gets HOT, so there is no need for a blanket on top of it. I have never slept with it at a higher setting than 3, although I set it higher to warm my bed. The fabric is thick for an electric blanket and has held up perfectly through many washings. I have not noticed too much static, even though I do not use much fabric softener. Our house is not dry, so more sofener may be needed if it is used in low humidity. I have never had any problem...

This thing works very well when it's functional. But about a month after i bought it, it shorted itself out. The wires connecting the controller with the blanket and the electrical outlet are too long and too flimsy. But bigger wires would make the product even more unwieldy.

The blanket was as plush as expected. Unfortunately, the blanket would not stay on. Numerous attempts were made using the owner's manual to reset the control. No efforts resulted in the blanket staying on for more than 3-5 minutes.

I am totally digging this blanket! The only thing is the auto off feature seems to be a LOOOOONG delay because it was on for almost an entire day because I forgot to look and turn it off in the morning, and Preheat feature? Really? Why can't you just turn it on low? Other than that it warms up relatively quick and has a convenient plug for our bedroom and if it isn't the cord is pretty long so everyone should be satisfied.

I really liked this blanket. It is very comfortable and warm. However one side has stopped working. I have left 5 messages at the customer support and no one calls me back. This blanket is so wonderfully warm and comfortable, it's like being hugged by your mother.

I'd leave it at that, but Amazon doesn't like short reviews. The blanket is almost a year old now, and still working perfectly. It's got a knob control that allows for infinite fine-tuning, which means you can set the blanket to *exactly* the perfect temperature for you. Also, the range of temperatures is nice and wide: from 'barely detectable' to 'surface of the sun,' so there's a setting for everyone. It washes well with minimal pilling, and remains colorfast and soft. I ordered Garnet, though the color is closer to a wine red than a bright garnet.

The wiring in these new blankets is almost undetectable, especially compared with the old fashioned type that felt like sleeping under a chain link fence. MUCH more comfortable. Also, the design minimizes electricity use by heating in one direction only: down, towards you. Those clever blanket makers figured out that you don't...

Worked well last winter, but. . . see follow up

My only complaint is that the description and picture mentioned NOTHING about dual zones and two controls. I specifically purchased this because I don't want two zones - I sleep alone in my queen sized bed and I usually sprawl diagonally. I have no need for dual zones. So I was disappointed when I saw the second remote in there. And I also don't like the controls. Not because there's anything wrong with them, but simply because with my setup, I hang them through slats on the headboard. With the other sunbeam controllers, with the dial and numbers on the "top" surface, those end up right where I need them and can read them when on the headboard. These have the number pointing straight down then.

Other than that, it works great. The preheat function doesn't really seem too necessary to me, but unlike some out there, it's an OPTIONAL setting on this unit. You can turn it on, adjust the temp where you want it, and leave it go at that. Or you can do that, then hit the...

2. worked for 1 year
I bought this last year around the holidays and loved it. I have severe arthritis and the warmth of getting into bed helped me fall asleep so fast..and stay asleep. Because of the reduced pain, I used it all year..just turned the air conditioner down at night in the summer. Eventually it became less and less warm and now it almost nonexistant. The bed never feels warm when getting in. Yet, during the night, it still does have minimal heat but barely. Just very disappointed and really expected it to last at least a few years. My mother is still using her Sunbeam electric blanket from 20 years ago. Sad how products just aren't what they used to be. Hats off to those marketing fellows...guess thats the point..create a product and make sure it only lasts a little while so they will have to buy a new one!

stays warm, makes a nice blanket to snuggle in. would recommend it. giving 5 stars because it does exactly what it says it will do..

one thing to keep in mind with any heating blanket, make sure you don't walk on it, crawl on it, or what not, because the heating coils inside the blanket can break very easy, which means less and less of your blanket will heat up. take care of this blanket and it will take care of you.

2. Great blanket
I purchased this blanket to pre heat my bed at night before getting into it during the winter. So far, I have not been disappointed. The blanket is a nice heavy weight, which I prefer and warms up quick. It is a pretty good quality compared to other electric blankets I have had in the past. The down side is the blanket is not as fluffy or thick as it appears in the picture, though this does not bother me, but would be good to know. It also doesn't have the satin edge, that many blankets of this variety tend to have, which may be a down side for some, but I find not to be a negative.

NOT GOOD
After having this blanket for two months, it is NO good. Seriously, I had to keep hiking up the temperate to even be able to feel the heat from my blanket. At first when it was on 3, I would feel a nice warmth, now on warm, I could barely feel anything last night. That's not good. In the picture you see a nice flush, warm looking blanket but what I got was an itchy, uncomfortable full of WIRE blanket. I honestly would like to have my money back because I feel like it was wasted. Do not buy.

1. Great... but won't last!
I bought 4 of these for my husband and myself and our kids. All 4 of them quitting working with 2 years of purchase. If you want to get one or two seasons out of them, then go ahead and buy them. For me, I'll never buy Sunbeam again.

2. HIGH FAILURE RATE FOR SUNBEAM ELECTRIC BLANKET
I have had four of these blankets in recent years, and every one has failed within a year. Waranty service is available only by mail at your expense. Sunbeam electric blanks are junk!

Hot, Hotter and Hotter
I just purchased this product on 12/7/12 and it came very quickly. I put it on my bed and set it on number 4. It was too hot so I turned it to "L". It was still too hot so I turned it off. The next day I put the control in the bed and turned it on to low and checked it in half an hour. The control was hot and the blanket was hot. It just never shuts off. I will now try to get warranty service on it.

1. absolutely the most perfect warming blanket
I purchased this wonderful warming blanket a month ago. I use it every night. Heats evenly. Extremely soft. It is true. You cannot feel any wires, turns off in 10 hours if you go to sleep and forget to turn it off. One problem, I do not want to get out of bed. Feels like the most expensive blanket on the market, but keeps you so very warm. I have purchased many warming blankets in the past and ended up dicarding them after one month or one season of use. Definately worth the money. You will not be sorry. If you are tired of getting into a cold bed or have a blanket that just does not feel soft and luxurious and first and foremost does not heat evenly, then what are you waiting for?

2. Preheat Function
The blanket itself is sheer luxury, but I had to return because of the preheat or warming function.. It is automtic and for an initial 30 minutes heats at the high setting before it switches to your selected setting which for me is in the lower numbers. Now this is no problem if one wants to warm the bed prior to retiring but to switch the blanket on in the middle of the night it is dangerously hot and awoke me from sleep because of the extreme discomfort. The blanket this replaced had the preheat as an option and in the future I'll have to be certain that this is what I get.

Blanket dead less than 4 months
I purchased this blanket as a 2010 Xmas gift for my wife but the controller died after 3 months of use. I called Perfect Fit's 1.800.299.1378 like the manual said to do and left a message. The message was returned within 5 minutes to my surprise and was told another controller would be sent out the next morning. After waiting 4 weeks I called their 1.800 number again but the mailbox was full (most likely due to huge number of defective blankets) and continued to call for the next week when I finally got to leave a message. After 5 business days I called again but this time the message said they would return my call within 2 business days, so I waited another 5 business days with no call. I believe 8 weeks and no new controller is a bit excessive, so I got Amazon to take back this piece of junk of a blanket and return my money. I would highly recommend NOT buying this blanket or anything from Perfect Fit unless you want to waste a lot of time or if you're very much into being...

1. First Shipping was Missing the electric Controls - 2nd Shipping Replacement was excellent
When I ordered the Electric Blanket I received it without the electric chords or controls. It took me several emails to find a solution. I first contacted Amazon and was told they could not send me just the controls. They said I would have to contact Sunbeam to ask them to send me the controls. I received 2 emails from Sunbeam asking me to send back the blanket and controls for a replacement. Duh!!! I didn't get the controls that was the problem so I couldn't very well send them back. Then finally after a couple more emails they agreed to let me send back the blanket. It would take me two weeks to get a shipping label and another 6-8 weeks for Sunbeam to send back a replacement blanket if they found I was not at fault.
In the meantime, Amazon went ahead and sent me a replacement blanket within 2 days and I sent back the 1st blanket that I received without the chords/controls and that was that. Amazon was much easier to deal with than the manufacturer that's for sure...

2. Soft and secure
The blanket is larger than I expected, so it even fits over a double bed, with an inch or so past each edge. The controller shuts off after 10 hours--a good safety feature. The material is very soft and thick. A great blanket!

Worst electric blanket ever!
This blanket takes forever to get warm, and when it does, the heat is uneven. Even at the highest setting, it doesn't get warm enough. I am returning it tomorrow.

1. Stylish, comfortable and warm
So after owning a quite a few electric blankets over the years, I decided to give this particular sunbeam model a try. I've had good experiences with their electric blankets and I was able to buy the Queen Lagoon version at a great price. One thing you should know about these blankets is that if you take care of them properly, they will last a lot longer. If you continually fold them and store them in areas where they can be damaged... then the shelf life will be shorter.

With that being said, this fleece blanket was great! The material is a bit more sturdy then usual, but still soft to the touch. If you have ever owned one of the sunbeam throws, its like having that material over the size of entire blanket. The stylish quilted pattern also looked great as a queen sized bedspread. I was surprised by the amount of heat pumped out from this simple little blanket. Even on a medium to low setting, the heat was sufficient enough for our needs. The heating zones on the queen also...

2. Helps Us Get Through the Winter
This is my first experience with an electric blanket and let me tell you, it's awesome. Our little old house isn't properly sealed, so we try not to crank up the heater too much, knowing it'll quickly dissipate anyway. We use this blanket to help us keep warm when it gets into the low 50s indoors, and it is awesome especially when you first hop into bed. Usually I can unplug the blanket soon after that and my body heat and all the blankets keep me warm for the rest of the night.

The annoying thing about this product is that the controls never really worked. It was the second or third use when the light on the control started flashing orange all the time...I looked this up online and found that this means there's some sort of error. Unfortunately, nothing I've tried has fixed that but we keep using it anyway. A faulty electric blanket doesn't seem like the smartest thing to use, but oh well. The biggest annoyance is that the auto-off thing doesn't work, so we just have to...

Sunbeam Electric Blanket a Winner
One word for this product - Amazing! I always wanted one of these but never could find one I like -- this one was perfect. Had so many color/heating options, SO soft and comfortable and the customer service crew was very helpful in answering my questions. It's about as comfortable and easy to control as it gets, inexpensive and actually helped me SAVE money on heat! After my husband and I loved it so much, I got one for my daughter and a spare for our guest room, too. Also a great gift (and easy to travel with). I highly recommend it.
